With two rounds left in the Super League Super Eights there is little left to play for except the jostling for places. Wigan need one more win to guarantee a home play-off tie and will be looking to seal that in Thursday night’s game away at Huddersfield while a win for Castleford against Wakefield will guarantee them third spot and an away game at Wigan with Warrington travelling to St Helens.

The Super Eights Qualifiers are far more exciting with Leeds Rhinos, Hull KR and Salford Red Devils all just one win away from securing Super League for 2019. A three horse race for the Million Pound Game is developing between Toulouse, Toronto and London which has pushed the RFL to announce a 19:00 kick-off for the crucial end of season game.

Giants coach Simon Woolford had made three changes to the side which played Castleford last week with Alex Miller, Oliver Russell and Jon Kirby being brought into the nineteen man squad in the places of Jordan Turner, Daniel Smith and Jack Wardle. Wigan make two changes with Josh Woods and Joe Greenwood named in place of the injured Willie Isa and Ben Flower. Wigan are the strong favourites with the bookies to get the two points that they need for a home play-off place.

On Friday night the SKY cameras are a the Mend-a-Hose Jungle where Castleford Tiger look to cement third place against Wakefield Trinity. The Tigers are the strong favourites and coach Powell makes just one chance with Will Maher replacing Joe Wardle in the squad which beat the Giants last time out. Wakefield will be keen to build on their win over the Dragons last weekend and coach Chester makes three changes with Ben Jones-Bishop, Chris Annakin and Danny Kirmond all returning to the side.

The other two games are played on Saturday starting with Warrington Wolves against St Helens at 15:15. The visitors are slight favourites for the win and make a number of changes with Ryan Morgan, Dom Peyroux and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook all named in the nineteen. Warrington also make a number of changes with Tyrone Roberts, Kevin Brown, Ben Murdoch-Masila and Chris Hill all back in the mix for places as Warrington look to consolidate their form in what is most likely a play-off dress-rehersal.

The final Super Eights game is the dead-rubber between two seriously out-of-form sides as Hull FC entertain the Catalans Dragons. FC will be without Sika Manu who became the latest addition to the Airlie Birds long term injury list but Mickey Paea has a chance of a recall to the seventeen after missing the last couple. The Dragons have made two changes with Micky McIlorum and Antoni Maria recalled in place of Mika Simon and Benjamin Garcia. FC are favourites for the win but the two points count for nothing.

The Qualifiers games take place on Saturday and Sunday.

Salford Red Devils can seal their position in Super League 2019 with a win over the London Broncos in the 15:00 kick-off. Salford are the hot favourites but London will be keen to perform as they know that a loss could spell disaster for their Million Pound Game aspirations. The Red Devils could have Ben Nakubuwai and Jack Littlejohn back in contention along with Jansin Turgut, Greg Johnson and Luke Burgess. London will have to win without the services of Will Lovell and James Cunningham, both out injured.

At 17:00 Toulouse Olypique face a Hull KR side who also know that they need just one win for safety, and the bookies think that they will get it. KR have Mose Masoe back in their squad and also expect Danny McGuire to figure after being a late withdrawal last weekend. Ben Crooks has also overcome a concussion worry and is named in the squad.

Slightly later the same afternoon sees the Widnes Vikings, desperate for a big win to keep their slender hopes alive, travel to Toronto to take on the Wolfpack. Toronto are favourites for the win which could, depending on earlier results, see them guaranteed home advantage in the Million Pound Game.

The final Qualifiers game is on Sunday afternoon when a winless Halifax have the daunting prospect of a visit of a Leeds Rhinos side who seem to be doing just enough to be sure of their Super League safety.  The Rhinos are massive favourites with the bookies to pick up the two points which will guarantee them Super League in 2019.

In the Championship Shield all games are to be played on Sunday with 15:00 kick-offs;

Leigh Centurions v. Batley Bulldogs

Rochdale Hornets v. Dewsbury Rams

Sheffield Eagles v. Barrow Raiders

Swinton Lions v. Featherstone Rovers
