Nothing wrong with asking the ref's advice. We all want to see a game with as few penalties as possible. I used to do it all the time when I was playing (union that was) and the ref was nearly always happy to advice me.

Hardly. It's another thinly veiled dig at Wigan, as usual from this poster. If it were saints coaching staff to have asked a question of the ref no doubt it wouldn't have been posted and even if it had it would more than likely been in praise of the coaching staff.

How any one can see a fault with asking the officials anything during a match I'll never know.

And we all know what we get with said poster, so there's no need for anyone to have a tittylip about it. We've had a discussion on the forum and the general concencous is that there's nothing wrong, even when carried ouot by our derby rivals.

I can assure you that if I wanted to have a dig at Wigan, it wouldn't be 'thinly veiled'. My digs at Wigan are never 'thinly veiled'.

Eddie Hemmings questioned whether coaches chatting to refs at halftime was legal and I asked the same question, to see if anyone knew. Nobody has actually provided evidence that it is either legal or illegal so I'm still in the dark about it.
