| Attendances mean nothing in the greater scheme of things.....TV money is what pays the players wages (with a few bob thrown in by local government) and so long as Mr Murdoch keeps ploughing millions in, then the greatest game will survive. I would suspect that as people were told to stay home due to the storms, TV figures would have been good....keeping advertisers happy, keeping Mr Murdoch happy and therefore keeping the NRL/ARL happy.
Having never been to Sydney I can't comment on the softness of the fans there, but I will say that I have met some pretty hardy Sydneysiders over the years.......and that was just the women  |
