| On Monday the late weather forecast on BBC put up a graph to show what the temperature could be this weekend and basically it could be 7C or -2C depending on the strength of the winds from the west and east.

So if we could get DI,LT,MM & PT on the pitch from 4.00pm the game would be definitely on?No hot air blowers needed.

| Latest GFS output going for a max of -1c during Saturday and 10cm of snow in the afternoon. May just be easing off by the time the game starts..where are they going to have their warm up?

| BBC has the snow arriving after 3pm, not sure which would be best.
Just get the orange balls out and get on with it. We're 3 from 3
The thing is, although there is a reasonable amount of sense in not laying undersoil heating for a potential 2 month window in a summer sport, we will be hugely laughed at and widely derided if the first game proper in a new stadium is weather affected.

| I suppose it depends how heavily it snows. If it causes a logistics problem for sky and supporters getting to the game then you can't blame not having underfloor heating.
I presume hat the stadium owners never envisaged a footie club ever playing there so felt there was no need.

Or didn't want to spent a penny beyond the minimum on the pesky sports related stuff next to the nice conferencing facility.

| Apparently Langtree Park (an excellent looking facility, of which I think most of us are at least a little bit jealous of) doesn't have undersoil heating either.

| Hmmm in no danger, what a reassuring and rational comment; let's see, 10cms of snow forecast, -9 at the stadium at 7.30am this morning, -6/-7 for a solid 8 hours last night which no covers can cope with, weather warnings in place and sporting events falling by the wayside every minute - if you need to know how good covers are long term then read the below - these are state of the art covers put down a week ago to keep the frost out .......
[iSaturday's meeting at Sandown has been abandoned due to a frozen track.
Clerk of the course Andrew Cooper inspected the track at 8am and was forced to call off the meeting, which was due to feature Champion Hurdle hopeful Binocular amongst others.
Cooper and his team had covered the track earlier in the week to give the meeting every chance of going ahead.
However, the covers failed to beat a series of cold nights and Cooper admitted it had not been too tough a decision to call off the fixture.
He said: "It's obviously disappointing but I think, to be fair, we probably knew it was going to be an uphill battle at the close of play yesterday.
"It dropped to minus 4C here overnight, but the wind chill has also dropped, so in a way it's not really any worse than it was yesterday.
"We are frozen in places, despite the covers being down, and it was a relatively straightforward decision.
"We're expecting to go up to 2C today but it won't be enough. From where were are now, we need to be hitting 5C or 6C in this time scale[/i

| So a horse race being called off in Surrey is proof that an RL game in Salford will be called off. But an RL game in Leeds going ahead proves nothing? Like your logic there

| The BBC Weather forecast always mirror's the Met Office website. The Met Office are forecasting -4C overnight with heavy snow between 3pm and 9pm tomorrow and a temperature high of 1C around 12pm, dropping to 0 C.
Unless they've got it wrong, it looks very doubtful to me.

| im pretty worried with the snow moving in from the west,we at cas have had the set off time for the coaches moved back an hour to a 3pm set off has they are anticipating a rough ride over the pennines,a few things that will need to be considered is how do the fans get there and back safely and what will the viwers be able to see if the snow is has heavy has predicted.
i have a feeling the game will be off if the snow is has bad has they are saying but hope im wrong.

| I can see the snow being the bigger issue. But we played Wigan in plenty of snow in 2006 - so the issue is less about the actual game of rugby and more about how the public generally panic at the sight of a snowflake and the roads get clogged. If Sky are there early, and the players get there, sky won't give a toss about others getting there as long as they can show a game even if the pitch is white. I don't think they make orange balls any more so the TV spectacle may be somewhat reduced by the invisibility of the ball when it's not in a player' hands.
