| On Richard Agar....When in the history of rugby league has it been an assistant coaches fault that a team plays poor and he had been sacked while the coach stays on....
I know Sean long left Salford but he resigned when Noble came in....Which everyone expected would happen. And he left Wigan after a few months but he was coaching the kids if I remember correctly. ( Be interesting to see if saints fans rip into Long if they lose another on the bounce. ..)
Other than that i can't recall any blame being pined on an assistant...
Hull fans weren't that vocal when Agar was assistant in an challenge cup win and a grand final appearance. He may in fact be a Sammy Lee... A very good assistant just a first team coach. Two completely different roles.

| Thing what gets me though is if people are saying that Smith takes a back seat to coaching and focuses on the tactical/technical side of things, then why is he known as "Director or Coaching & Rugby"? Shouldn't it be in the Rugby Union mould whereby he is "Director of Rugby" and Agar will be "Head Coach" because he's the primary coaching figure, yet it's the DOR that gives the pre/post match interviews.....

| I would think Agar like any Assistant coach would follow the head coach's instructions, as for Mona's it may have been too early for him, being a bit close to his mates a brother who is captain, clouded judgement and all that, could be the similar too for Briers.

Disagree with that, especially as when KC took over as Head Coach of Saints, he brought in his old mate Sean Long as assistant.
That's not worked out too badly for them. (yes, I know they have lost their last 3 games, but they did win their first 6)

| Smith should stay. This is the first real sign of trouble since he has been here so we shouldn't just get rid. He is a top coach so give him time.
However the concerning thing isn't that we have lost 5 of our last 6, it's the performances we are putting in. We started the season defending well, shown best against leeds. But now our defence has gone to pieces, and if you look at our attack over the games, it doesn't look good.
Saints: 4 tries. 3 from scoots and 1 from a charge down
Leeds: 1 solo effort, 1 from a kick, 1 from a knock on.
So we haven't created much all season but our defence won us a few games. Our defence now has collapsed and we have the worst attack in the league.
It can't be a coincidence that since agar came in we have became so predictable and not creative with the ball.
Only 4 years ago when it was common knowledge that briers, monaghan and hodgson came up with most of the attack we were such an exciting team to watch. Those 3 no longer play and it seems Agar has taken over the attacking duties and it's clearly showing on the pitch.
We are also still a halfback short. I'm not debating who should play there, I think if we are honest with ourselves none of them are good enough for our squad.
If the rumours about signing a halfback for next season are true, the club need to announce it ASAP. If we know that at least next season we will have a halfback it might calm everyone down a bit this year.

Will this new 'signing' be happy to play in the championship? Because thats where we are heading if things don't make a dramatic improvement soon! And yes I am serious.

Agree 100%. However I'm worried that we still don't even have someone lined up.

That's a fair point, but I think you can only do that so often before it has a negative effect or it becomes 'water off a ducks back'.

| Without doubt Smith should stay and sort out the issues we are all faced with. He is responsible for, the appointment of Agar, the lack of halfbacks of any quality, the poor defence, the clueless attack, the slack passes and the dropped balls. He is at the top and buck stops there. He now has to prove he is the man to turn that around and get us back to the high level we have been used to over recent seasons.

Jeez, talk about a comment being way wide of the mark.
I know things are not that great at the moment, but we're not crap enough to get relegated. It just won't happen.

| Isn't it just that you've not yet replaced the heartbeat of the team, with Monaghan and Briers going? The impression I get from Warrington is that you haven't yet worked out what your creative source is, which I can't understand, and Clarke has gone from awesome to anonymous. In previous years, you always knew it would revolve around Briers, and Monaghan would drive the team forward. Now? Still some willingness to move the ball around, but the threat isn't quite so obvious.
This is a shame. If Wakey can't win it, I've always wanted Warrington to, because the fans are passionate and in numbers, and were when the going was rough before Tony Smith came along.
