If it is to happen then it should be Us, Cas & Fev, 3 teams in the Wakefield area: 3 teams = a Trinity = team name Wakefield Trinity

With the first merger thing everything was rushed through and those against it found a way out. Maybe this time 'they' have had time to plan things.

Definately a No to any merger! Watched Wakey since the sixties so it's Wakefield Trinity.... or nothing for me.

The ONLY reason a merger should be considered is if the RFL say that neither Wakey or Cas will be awarded a franchise in their own right, but that a merged club would get a franchise - ideally guaranteed for at least 2 franchise periods.



On the assumption that Messrs Richardson & Wright can make the necessary agreements (clearly with additional financial input from the RFL as we saw with Hudds/Sheff & Hull/G'head) I think that based on where both clubs have progressed with planning & financing the new stadia, a merged club would be based on Newmarket Lane.



I don't particularly like the idea of a merger, but I think it is right that the Wakefield district retains a presence in SL and a merger may be the price both Wakey & Cas need to pay to ensure it. If a merged team was formed, I would expect that it is named Wakefield Tigers. From a nostalgic perspective I'd like to see the word "Trinity" retained but I wouldn't expect it to be.



A merged club should find it easier to compete financially with the likes of Leeds, Wigan, Saints & Warrington - the biggest question is whether the fans of both Wakey & Cas would get behind the new team.
