| Quote Wilde 3="Wilde 3"You would play Kent (who has not played a match for months, and isnt that good of a prospect IMO) over Galea who is one of our top scorers??
FWIW I wouldnt be playing Galea - i would have Westerman in the left Second Row position to use his ball skills to get that left side firing, but no way would i replace Galea with a youngster who hasnt shown as much as Green, Bowden etc have'"
i would yes once he was fit id have him in the squad over galea any day and only if they was him and galea fighting for the place but they isn't we have westy and tickle fit atm so id play them 2
but getting to your point about him not performing as well as other youngsters is that maybe because when he got his chance he played prop when we was short when he was probably big enough to play centre at a push??? and he did not put a foot wrong or take a backwards step he was really strong if i remember rightly

| I just think your pushing out youngsters names for the sake of it when they wouldnt actually offer anything more than the people currently playing there.
You have a case with Lineham over Crookes, Green over Pitts, Bowden over Johnson etc - but not Kent over Galea

i know what you mean but i don't mean as 1st choice i just mean in the squad over galea although he has scored tries i just don't see what the point in signing him was or what he actually brings to us hes slow lazy slipping off tackles hes simply past it

| i disagreed with the Galea signing - but then you step back and look from a different perspective and you think that we have quite a young, emerging pack of forwards.
This guy has had a good career, a lot of experience and was a very good players. If he can guide the likes of Green, Pitts, Kent, Hadley etc then that would be invaluable. I dont actually think he will get a lot of game time when Ellis is back - but what he can do on the training pitch with these young lads is probably better long term than what he will do on the pitch

| I would have thought the descion to play Briscoe at FB was probably of his attacking abilities, running the ball back and joining the attack are two of Briscoe's strenghts and we have been saying we need to get him into the game.
It didn't work but at least he tried something.

We've tried that before (Widnes A last year) and it failed miserably.
Time to stop moving players around and play them in there proper positions.

| In fairness to Gentle's decision to play Briscoe at Fullback, this is how we currently stand with the fullbacks:
McDonnell - Injured
Shaul - Injured
Horne - in the halves, 2 halfbacks unavailable.
So there weren't many other things he could have done - maybe played Crookes at FB and keep Briscoe on the wing but it still wouldn't have been ideal.

Or maybe, as has been said many times, Whiting at FB?

| Whiting would have been a better choice. We know he can play anywhere.
I think it's harsh to say that Gentle doesn't promote from within. Bowden, Green, Kent, Lineham and Nicklas have all had chances under Gentle.

Ben Crooks too.
IF he'd played Whiting there at the weekend and Dixon had ran around him for that try then all that would have happened is the same people would've said he should have played Briscoe there because Whiting's too slow.
We could afford to move Briscoe off the wing because we had Jason Crookes waiting in the wings so to speak.
