And what reason would he have had to consult the VR? The TJ is there to make these calls and Bentham was way too far away to see what happened. Should refs consult the VR on every touch call - just in case?

Because it was a game defining call? Common sense would suggest that with the importance of the decision in the context of the game, he should have gone to the VR.

I disagree. Unless Bentham had reason to suspect that the call might have been wrong I don't see why he would call for the VR. I think that Ganson should probably have had a quiet word in his ear though.
