Doesn't want to be anywhere with a capacity bigger than 35-40k, if they are going to move it.
No point in having it in a huge stadium and have 20k plus seats empty.
So, you'd be looking at somewhere like the following, depending where the RFL would want to take it:
Goodison Park (Liverpool)
Villa Park (Birmingham)
Bramhall Lane (Sheffield)
Hillsborough (Sheffield)
Elland Road (Leeds)
Riverside Stadium (Middlesborough)
Pride Park (Derby)
King Power (Leicester)
City Ground (Nottingham)

That's not what it should be about. Doesn't look great on tv or for anyone attending the stadium to have it at a 60/70k seater stadium and only have 25-30k of fans there - looks like no one gives a monkeys about it.
Barcelona is just a non starter, if we can't fill a UK stadium then no chance of there!! A smaller stadium in the south of France could be an option though - gives more French fans to get to the event and British fans to have a weekend away in the sunshine, if that's what they want... |
