I always thought Graeme Close was a solid scrum half, signed by Millward from Workington. If Jamie Acton keeps working on his discipline, he will become a fans favourite. Another one signed from Workington.

Jamie Acton is the bees knees - already best forward in club.

In my time of watching the club, Derick Hurt would be the stand out candidate. He played in the fifties/Sixties and was a very good backrower. Many of Mick Martyn's try's came from Derick's astute off loads! He was signed from Cockermouth RUFC which, is near Workington. I remember him scoring a try and two goals in our 1959 victory over Australia! Not many of our players have enjoyed that accomplishment and, its unlikely that we will see it done again!!

Another good servant for Leigh was Joe Hoskings. Joe was a goal kicking fullback from Cumbrian who played in the mid 1950s until the early sixties. Saw Joe in the Legends bar before a recent game, he looked well
