Someone at work reckons he has read on another board that Starship Widnes is about to have another crew member.

A big signing will be named today. Any truth?

I'm not sure to be honest Chris. There was something on the other board last week about a big signing but that didn't materialize.

Now there is another post that the big signing will be announced today.

We hear this every week!

I don't think there will be many more to add to the squad and and dual contract players may come between the Cup/start of the league due to availability/injuries etc.

I understand that Kevin Penny will still be coming back though.

And a permanent signing for a back rower would do me, that enables someone like Varkulis to come from the bench.

We need a goalkicker.Who will it be, as the only one i can think of is webster at the moment.

Lomax from Saints can kick i think and could also slot in at Full Back enabling Ford to move to the centre position. Thats if we can get him on a dual contract.

For me though think i'd have Yacca over Lomax... he;s our lad at the end of the day!

Keep hearing rumours that Gavin Dodd will be leaving Widnes to re-sign for Oldham. Anyone else heard the same?. Have been out of the loop for a while so might have missed something.

He has already left Widnes, but destination not confirmed as yet, though Oldham seems likley atm as they sorting squad together lately!

I dont rate Yacca to be honest, for me he's too lightweight and dodgy under the high ball. I know he's still only young but for me i dont think he will make it.

I think he still has time and this is prob make or break season! I'd rather we gave our lads a shot rather than help train another sides as we need to bring through our own players to tick youth boxes and more importantly for me, a bit of local pride in the squad!
