So Mick has just posted it is 20 years exactly since the first Superleague title.
which sticks it in and snaps it off with regards to where we are at now at the minute..
Do you think we will ever hit Super League again? and if so do you think these guys who now own the club will get us there?
The video link for good measure https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... vloaCnB27Y
Its hard to watch..

| Mixed emotions. On one hand, sad and very angry at what we've become. Do i think we will return to the top flight? Yes, but it will be a long road back and many years.
On the other, how lucky are we to have experienced that? Yes other fans may laugh and throw mud at us right now, but we've had experiences and highs many fans will never have. Most will never experience what we did that day. Or the ecstasy of winning a GF. Only 3 other teams have shared that experience. We did some amazing things in probably the best time in RL. Look a the crowds in SL and how dull it is now compared to those years. Yes we're in a rut and the pain feels never ending, but at the end of the day everything becomes a memory, and we've some of the best memories any RL fan will ever experience.

| id argue that the ten years of fewer good memories include some good ones too - savoring beating Leeds at headingley via AH van's boot. Rikki sheriffe scoring twice to beat Leeds at odsal. The unexpected away win at wigan prior to admin one. beating Catalan away and eventually losing the longest winning run in Catalan.
Seeing players like Menzies, Bateman, sammut and Burgess to name a couple.
Its the last 3 for me that have been particularly painful that last season in super league with Sidlow as our entire pack - the million pound game, the featherstone away game. the 7 years prior to that there were memories that were pleasant that still held some hope of turning the corner.

To be fair. We've had three great Blackpool games too. The 22-20 win at home against Wigan in what was The Matt Orford Show! Euphoric scenes in that comeback haha! Even the Leigh away game in 2015 we lost was a cracking advert for Rugby League!

| The days of being in SL with no money are gone. Without money, there is zero chance of ever getting back to SL. And we have no money, nor any prospect of any money.
Any pie-in-the-sky idea of working your way up from C1 is laughable, the nearest template that exists is Leigh, and look how many years and how much money it cost them. Nevre mind SL, we are a million miles away from even the standard Leigh were in the Championship and unless a money man appears magically realistically i really do not see any chanc at all of coming close to that level. Ever.
If in a couple of years we managed to scrape back into the Championship, we might avergae 4000 including kids and seniors, and that doesn't come even close to acquiring a team good enough to play at SL level. Ineed, it almost certainly means a whopping annual loss, never mind any war chest or player money.
We've proved the way down from hero to zero can be rapid. Trouble is, it is a sheer and slippery cliff. Falling off can be quick. Climbing back up is anything but.

| As Amy Winehouse once said-" It's all foookry.
I would have been more positive if I thought at anytime over the last 5/6 years that we had reached a BOTTOM,as once somethings bottomed out you can they go forward, but we never reached the relative stability of a BOTTOM and continued to sink further and further. So many of past/present management have a lot to answer for.IMO it started with Caisley and the Harris affair, after that it was all down hill. All that memorable history, great rugby, great teams, great players, great supporters,pi$$ed up against a wall by the clowns that ran the club into the ground.
Sickening,it really is.

| Speaking of the ups and downs and what we have actually experienced in Rugby League...........
To put our achievements into perspective.....Tonight could be the night that Castleford Tigers finish top of the league for the first time in their 91 Year history!
We came 1st on FOUR occasions in just the past 20 years! That's mad.

| There are always ups and downs - it's just life and sport is no exception - in fact, in sport it is magnified.
In the earlier years, with the whole universe of RL (in those pre motorway days it was an A58 sport) being in only two, or even just one division, it was far easier. From up at the top to down at the bottom could be (and was) achieved in a couple of years. It is different now though. The game was part time and no club had 'owners' in the modern style. Nowadays there is so much money at the top end of the game that it is immensely difficult to break through and the fact we have no money gives a solid clue to our chances, at least in the short term.
You can never say never though and no-one knows what, or who, is just around the corner so nil desperandum should be the order of the day. I think I'll just go and check our the rumours thread.....
