| Well we wont be seeing a new ground at Newmarket anytime soon, Leeds MDC have put spanner into that (I've had that from officialdom too, not the club) so if we dont talk about a ground share we can enjoy trips to Barrow from 2012 onwards.

| A merger is the logical way forward, bring together the people of the Wakefield district and start competing with the bigger clubs... we would get decent crowds, better players and more chance of silverware.
Now in reality, a good number of people will stop going in we move to Cas (me included), the gates may get a little better for Cas Wildcats but the identity of both clubs will die.
Maybe we could do a Wimbledon and have the people on this board as the new clubs board.. Trinity Wildcats would be at Wembley within 5 years.

| I have been watching Wakey for 25 years now since i was five years old, most of those years have been battling relegation and survival. I have seen the Yorkshre cup win, first division grand final and reached the play off twice, i think thats it. Even if we get a new stadium i just can not see us being able to compete with Leeds, Wigan and Saints.
Wakey, Cas and Fev are all too close together and fight for the scraps of players that have not been snapped up by the Rhinos. If these three were to merge a united club may have greater pulling power, ability to draw a big crowd (not by some of the old timers) but younger kids, therefore commercial success and ability to challenge for honours.
We have to move forward and i am starting to think that a merger would be the only way!

| =#8000FFI'd do it in a heartbeat, the boards don't show loyalty to the fans, so why should the fans show loyalty to the clubs and NOT support a new club out of nothing more than petty spite? a new team in Glasshoughton (most central to the 3 clubs and the best place commercially) would be the biggest team in SL within a couple of years and would have by far and away the best youth setup in the Country.

For the supporters of today? Yes.
Where ever the team was based it would be seen as another form of that club, alienating supporters from the other club/s. See Huddersfield and Hull for example.
There is also a possibility that if no supporters took to the new club it wouldn't last long enough for the next generation of potential supporters to come through.

=#8040FFThem mergers were never going to work, and I don't think they were intended to either, Huddersfield & Sheffield is a fair distance away from each other and Hull/Gateshead were just called Hull and played in Hull, both mergers were done for the million pound RFL payout to stop Hudds & Hull going bust.

Yes Glasshoughton in Castleford would be the most central, definitely!!

| If it was in Glasshoughton then it wouldn't be a merger, it would be a takeover by Cas.
