Austin won't play I don't think. Leaving him out the squad is a double bluff.



Saints will train expecting to play against him as their game plan. hopefully someone can step in and provide a style/game plan they haven't prepped for and can't get to grips with.

Inbred mouth breathers on redvee apoplectic that he’s not been named and it makes a ‘mockery’ of the system and will be ‘pathetic’ if he plays. No lads, what would be pathetic is wasting a spot in the 19 for someone who may not play! It’s win-win for us. If he’s still injured, nothing’s lost. If he plays, we’ve operated within the system, no matter how daft you may think said system is.

Or the highly likely scenario of him not being named in the squad due to him not playing. I believe he isn't playing and I wouldn't want someone nowhere near fully fit taking the field no matter who it is.

I still hope Austin proves his fitness and plays but there is no point playing him if he isn't right. He looks like he has been carrying an injury for most of the season, it better to get him right.

From what I'd read I wasn't expecting Austin to make it (From his interview I think today would have been the first day that he'd tried running on it?). Choice for halfback is now Patton + Currie / Ratchford / Livett. I think that he'll go with Currie with Westwood and Mamo missing out.

Agree with this. Over on Red V they do seem to spend more time discussing us than their own club. Some kind of need to criticise everything we do or don't do? it's comical really.

But that isn't an issue. If you named him and he wasn't fit, you could just swap him out for someone else. It's a stupid system brought in as a kneejerk to Millward's lineup against Bradford that time that caused all the controversy.

It is a pathetic process. I don’t get why we bother with this masquerade, it’s a 19 man squad to account for late fitness tests illness. Just pick 19, if you’re not in it, you don’t play.

Surely if you want Saints to think he'll be playing you would name him in the squad and say he's playing! Then withdraw him and replace him at the last minute and implement your master plan?

I don't think you should have to name a squad prior to the game at all. What's the point? You have a squad to choose from and coaches should be able to select whoever they want.

But they're not bothered by us, as we are irrelevant to them and not even a rival apparently.

Agree with this if there has to be a 19 named, otherwise just scrap the naming of 19 altogether as CW8 suggests and as I raised in a post related to Ratch's inclusion earlier in the year.

More a case of disbelieving given how many 19 man squads have had late editions.



Its not like Austin is a new player for wire who saints have never faced. He's a known quantity and has yet to play a significant role in our matches.



To me ratchford and Clarke are the main threats they have proven against saints that they can make an impact.

Blake’s just put on Instagram “shattered but it wasn’t my time I guess” really can’t see this being a bluff unfortunately! Let’s just hope the boys manage to pull something out of the hat come Saturday as highly unlikely as that seems on current form.

All this fuss about 19 man squads when it was Saints fault it was brought in in the first place.

Probably more sensible to keep Austin out & get him fit for the GF against Wigan.
